(2009/seventh edition, released April 2009 - More Book Information)

Instead, this chart only lists the pages in PassPorter's Disney Cruise Line 2009 that would be out-of-date or incorrect without this information.

18The crew of the Disney Wonder rescued a passenger who reportedly jumped from another cruise ship. According to news media reports, after receiving the distress call the Wonder diverted from its course and dispatched a small rescue boat. That boat's crew located the individual after he was in the water for about 90 minutes, a little after Midnight on Thursday morning. The rescue took place about 28 miles from Port St. Lucie, Florida, and the Wonder then returned as scheduled to Port Canaveral.

18The general public can make reservations on the Disney Dream, DCL's newest ship, beginning Monday, November 9, 2009. Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members (guests with 5+ previous Disney cruises) were able to book beginning this past Monday, November 2, 2009.

29When it sets sail in January 2011, the Disney Dream will have two adults-only, extra-cost restaurants. Disney Cruise Line has just announced Remy, a tres elegante French restaurant, named for the star of Disney*Pixar's Ratatouille. Think, "Victoria and Albert's at sea," especially since V&A's Executive Chef, Scott Hunnell, collaborated on the menu. Diners will be served eight or nine small, very elegantly presented courses, fine wine will be a major focus, and, with just 80 seats in the main dining room, 16 more at the Chef's Table (again, V&A-style), and a 16-guest Wine Room, this is going to be the hottest reservation at sea (sorry, Palo). Price has not been announced, but we can't imagine anything less than $50 per person, plus at least that much more for a wine flight to accompany the meal.

29Construction of Disney Cruise Line's new ship, the Disney Dream, recently reached a major milestone when the last of 80 massive "building blocks" was added to the ship's hull. Fittingly, the final part added, the upper bow, includes the first steel that was cut for the new ship, the intricate scrollwork featuring Captain Mickey. From now on, construction focuses on the interior spaces. The new ship has its inaugural voyage on January 26, 2011.

29At a presentation to stock analysts in NYC last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger said of the decision to add two new ships to the fleet, “We thought we had an opportunity to expand our horizons, no pun intended,” Iger said. “We’re going to take advantage of that with Alaska, Southern California and Mexico, parts of Europe and, maybe down the road, Asia or Hawaii.” Both locations have potential for Land and Sea vacations from Disney's theme parks in Asia as well as the currently-under-construction resort in Hawaii.

31The Disney Fantasy was originally scheduled to have it's "Maiden Voyage" on April 7, 2012. The "Maiden Voyage" is now scheduled for March 31, 2012. The itinerary will be the same - a Western Caribbean cruise visiting Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Castaway Cay. This also affects the March 24, 2012 sailing of the Disney Magic, which will change from a 7-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary to a 6-night Western Caribbean sailing. This will avoid the Disney Magic and Disney Fantasy being at Port Canaveral on the same day.

39The Disney Cruise Line will visit Alaska in 2011! On January 6, 2011, the Wonder will set sail from Port Canaveral on a 15-night Panama Canal cruise to it's new home in the Port of Los Angeles. January 23 - April 17, the Wonder will do 7-night Mexican Riviera cruises and then move to Vancouver for the summer. May 3 - August 30, the Wonder will do the Alaska itinerary which includes stops in Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan. On September 25, the Wonder resumes the Mexican Riviera itineraries for the rest of 2011. The Magic will be returning to the Mediterranean in the summer of 2011 for 10-and 11-night itineraries as well as doing special 10- and 11-night holiday sailings in December.

251Disney Cruise Line is making room for more guests. DCL's new ships will hold 4,000 guests (more than the Disney Magic or Disney Wonder which each hold 2,400 guests) creating a need for an expanded family beach, an additional dining location (Cookies Too), and 20 private cabanas with various levels of service including a dedicated server. There will also be a new all-ages water-play area.

300Nine passengers from the Disney Wonder as well as nine passengers from Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas were robbed at gunpoint while on a "Segway Off Road Back to Nature" tour of Nassau, Bahamas on November 20, 2009. The Royal Caribbean group and their tour guide were attacked by two men with shotguns who ordered them to the ground and took their money, passports, phones, credit cards, etc. The Disney Cruise Line group following the same route happened upon the incident and were also accosted. No one was injured. Disney Cruise Line representatives worked with the affected passengers providing assistance. Both cruise lines have canceled the tour and the crime is being investigated by the Bahamian police.

375Disney Cruise Line has revealed that Crush, the 150-year-old sea turtle with the surfer dude attitude, will be the star performer in the Animator's Palate dining room when the cruise line's newest ship enters service in 2011. While the dining room will continue to have animation studio-inspired decor, it will transform to an undersea world, and the animated sea turtle from Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo will use the room's many video screens to table-hop and interact with diners. "Dude, what's that you're munchin'? Sea-sar salad? Does that have any, like, seaweed in it, dude?"

400Due to high winds and rough seas, the Disney Magic was delayed leaving Port Canaveral on Friday, February 12, 2010. The ship was required to stay at Castaway Cay through Saturday and returned to Port Canaveral Sunday morning, a full day late. When the Magic arrived at Port Canaveral, it was forced to disembark in a different terminal owing to the Wonder being at the Disney Terminal. Guests waiting to board the Magic on Saturday were provided with a one-day pass to Epcot on Saturday, vouchers for dinner on Saturday, accommodations for Saturday night, and $100 in shipboard credits as well as 20% off the cost of their cruise. Guests onboard whose return was delayed were given 20% off a future cruise and assistance in changing their travel arrangements. (This is one reason why trip insurance is important!)

999As of now, the Disney Magic is scheduled to set sail from Barcelona, Spain on April 24, 2010.
