Animator's Palate |
Disney’s true colors shine in this imaginative restaurant that regales you with a multi-media show. Animator’s Palate—which serves dinner only—is located on deck 4 aft on the Disney Magic.
Decor—Entering this large, windowless restaurant is like walking into a black-and-white sketchpad, the walls covered in line drawings of classic Disney characters. Where’s all the color? Just wait! The Magic received an update in 2013, including new HD video screens, though the overall theme remains.
The Shows—The classic Animator’s Palate show was renewed on the Magic in late 2013 as “Drawn to Magic,” featuring new tech, music, and animation. As each course is served in the sketchbook-themed room, color blooms all about and the drawings come to life, all in time to a wonderful musical score. “Animation Magic” (on the second rotational visit) is hosted by Sorcerer Mickey and celebrates Disney animation. Guests are asked to sketch characters before the meal, a music-and-animation “remix” enlivens dinner, and at the end, guest sketches magically come to life on screen.
Dress—Unless the evening is formal, semi-formal/dress-up, or “pirate”, dress is resort casual. Polo and camp shirts are fine, but please don’t wear shorts.
Our Review—Animator’s Palate is a fun place for all ages. The “shows” are breathtaking and food is enjoyable, with Italian or Pacific Rim flavors that will please most palates. When you arrive at your table, try to pick seats with a good view of the video screens on the walls.
