Matterhorn Bobsleds

Description from PassPorter's Disneyland Resort and Southern California Guidebook:

The 1/100th scale Matterhorn peak houses what was the world's first tubular steel roller coaster, circa 1959. Hop in one of the two deceptively long lines for one of two slightly different ride experiences—thrill-seekers should take the left line on the Tomorrowland side, while those who prefer a smoother, slightly longer ride should take the right line on the Fantasyland side. In both, you sit front-to-back in a six-person “bobsled” that winds through dark, alpine tunnels past dripping icicles, misty caves, giant crystals, and an angry Abominable Snowman. Be leery of riding in the rain—while most of the ride is inside the mountain, dirty rain water still collects in the bottom of the bobsleds and gets all over your shoes. This very bumpy, jerky coaster is relatively tame but it knocks you around a bit, and the dark makes it seem scarier. You may get a bit damp at the “splashdown” finale. Matterhorn reopened in spring 2017 after a length refurbishment, which added FastPass to the attraction. Uncovered queue. Health warning. Rider swap, single rider line. Must transfer from wheelchair.

Are there better roller coasters? Yes. Do any of them compare to the Matterhorn. Heck no!!!! This is the iconic Disneyland ride. You MUST ride this ride.

Ride it every time, however as you get older it hurts. Really hope that they smooth the ride vehicles out at some time.

This ride is very jerky and bumpy, but another favorite from my childhood, because I remember this being the first rollercoaster I was tall enough to ride. These days, it's not my favorite, but it's okay.

New cars made for too bumpy a ride. Heard they have improved padding

If you can manage to make this one of your first rides in the park, it is worth it! Such a fun roller coaster type ride! Teens love it!

Rough, old ride. I don't like it personally, but my family loves to and it's a must do everytime for them.

A lurchy, uncomfortable ride - worth doing once to say you did it, but not a repeat visit.
