Mission: SPACE

Description from PassPorter's Walt Disney World Guidebook:

Prepare for space flight at the International Space Training Center. As a civilian “astronaut,” you board a four-person training centrifuge to experience the sensations of liftoff and zero gravity. Guests can choose between the original, high intensity version (Orange Team) or a low-intensity experience (Green Team). In the high-intensity version, sensations are intense—the simulator spins rapidly and you may get queasy. If you go for the full-octane experience, heed the warnings and don’t close your eyes or look to the side during the ride. If you’d rather not take the chance of getting sick, try the milder version—it’s the same ride but without the spinning. Save time to enjoy the post-show exhibits. Young kids enjoy the Space Base playground. Indoor, themed queue. 44"/112 cm height restriction. Young kids must be with an adult. Update: An updated Orange mission to Mars and a brand new Green mission that orbits Earth will begin in August 13, 2017! Note that the new missions will no longer include Gary Sinise, but rather Gina Torres.

What PassPorter Readers Think of Mission: SPACE (25 comments):

I only went on the Orange side. I hate this attraction. I got a major case of vertigo on this ride. I am so traumatized I would never even try the green side. All I wanted was off this darn thing and quick. I nearly had a panic attack. I am a big fan off roller coasters and thrill rides. Give me Expedition Everest, Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster. This is a no go for me.

I love this ride! (But not the "wimpy version", lol!)

We love this ride, both orange and green!!

No offense Gary, but the intro video and narration needs some updating. Maybe Matt Damon!!!???!!!

There are two versions of this ride. If you are not good in a confined area or with motion simulators, try the "Green Team" version. If you're ok with both, go for the rough ride! Just keep your eye out for those intrepid people who were sure they could do the ride with no problems and then found out otherwise. Just stay out of their path! I've seen a lot of people come off of this ride very sick to their stomachs so, don't eat right before this one!

We love this ride. The rest of my family likes Orange, but I can only do Green.

I could see this ride being AMAZING for some. However I will never ride again. I did the regular version before they offerred a "less intense" and it made me feel very anxious, claustrophobic and sick. If those types of things don't bother you, then I would definitely recommend it b/c its a one-of-a-kind experience!

Super fun ride! Haven't had the nerve to do the orange side yet!

I suffer from motion sickness but the non spin version was very enjoyable.

Whoa! What fun! To finally get a taste of what it feels like to blast off into space is a thrill.

I always wanted to go to Space Camp as a child. This makes me feel like a dreamer again! Love the sensation of lift off!

We loved it so must we are placing it in our Touring plans 3 times when we go in November. 2 Oranges and a green. We will go on this ride first thing we get to Florida.

Got to say we were confused by the storyline and could not tell if our actions effected the ride experience.
Big G gave this a rating of 6 on 06/05/2016 at 6:37:21 pm EDT

Could use some updating, but it's a good ride to get out of the heat and relax.

Love the takeoff, interesting ride for all

The kids are now on orange, green for me! Super Disney Imagineering - the closest to space I'll ever be!
goofyboysmama gave this a rating of 9 on 05/31/2016 at 9:09:27 pm EDT

This is one of our favorites! Always ride the orange more intense as the green is just too sedate for us.
Pal of Pooh gave this a rating of 9 on 05/31/2016 at 11:57:49 am EDT

Have done both orange & green & orange is definitely more intense. The exhibits on the way to your ship are worth checking out.
FARMERGIRL gave this a rating of 9 on 05/30/2016 at 11:15:58 pm EDT

Very well done. The repeated warnings heighten you anticipation. Even if you take the "non-spinning" side you get a feeling of being weightless. Fun games at the exit, too.
Marie the Cat gave this a rating of 10 on 05/30/2016 at 7:10:59 pm EDT

Neat but never again! It was too intense and messed up my equilibrium. I got so sick after riding that the paramedics had to come and almost take me to the hospital. I was so sick, I had to leave the park and go home, I was sick and nausious the rest of the day.

Love doing this ride with the family and we always take the green side

Fun to pretend to be an astronaut, but not all that thrilling of a ride
zettarooski gave this a rating of 7 on 05/27/2016 at 9:21:53 am EDT

I gave this a 3 because I am claustrophobic!
