Description from PassPorter's Walt Disney World Guidebook:

Few restaurants are as breathtakingly beautiful as the Coral Reef—brightly glazed blue mosaic tiles and brushed metal shimmer in the light cast by The Seas with Nemo & Friends aquarium, as fish of all sizes and colors swim by. The inventive seafood menu ($23–$31) covers a variety of international tastes and styles and is generally well-prepared. Meat and veggie lovers will also find foods to enjoy here ($24–$33). If only there was more elbow room, the noise more restrained, and the service more consistent. Tip: Request a tank-side table for the best views. Sweets here are special, especially The Chocolate Wave ($9). Kids’ meals are $10–$13. Enjoy the same view and menu at lunch.

What PassPorter Readers Think of Coral Reef (28 comments):

Our family loves eating here and watching the fish while we eat. It is really fun when they have scuba divers in the tank. The food is good, but nothing to write home about. We eat here if we have time, and ate at all our other Epcot musts first during the trip.

Very good food and atmosphere. A little noisy though

Nice view of the fish. Not as many food choices for picky eaters.

We have tried this place 2 times. The best thing about it was the aquarium. May try again if food improves.

Great food, Great atmosphere. Love watching the fish. Sometimes there are people swimming in the aquarium and they will wave and interact with you as you eat.

I love the atmosphere! We have had excellent service and food every time we've been here.

We love this place! Watching the aquarium never gets old and the food is very tasty!!

I kind of feel guilty eating fish in front of all the fish in the aquarium but the food is so good I get over it.

The aquarium was the best part. Nonexistent service--we waited 15 minutes to have our orders taken, it took an hour to be served, and then we couldn't find the guy to get our ticket. Food was just ok--hit or miss, actually.

Nice to eat next to the fish. Menu is a bit fancy and somewhat limited. Worth doing at least once if you have the meal plan.

The food was fine and if you like aquariums, which I will admit freak me out a little, so that's my issue, not the restaurant's, it's a cool setting. But I wouldn't really call it magical, it's an upscale restaurant with an aquarium.

Food can be inconsistent, but nothing beats the surroundings.
MissyMouse70 gave this a rating of 8 on 06/18/2016 at 10:01:32 pm EDT

We eat here a lot. The recent menu change has made it very limiting for folks with food allergies. Be warned, there is shrimp in almost everything. The view is worth the price.

Tiny portions considering the prices.

As many have said, the giant fish tank is the draw at Coral Reef. I love seafood, but the rest of my family can take it or leave it, so we don't get here as often as I would like. I think the food is great, my husband wasn't impressed. But watching my kids light up when their "friends" swim by makes up for any negatives. They love to name all the fish, and then we spend 10 minutes saying goodbye to each and every one!

I love the fish but do not like the food here. It seemed very bland
tinae159 gave this a rating of 7 on 06/15/2016 at 1:47:10 am EDT

Watching the fish tank is the main attraction especially for children! Food is average. Allow extra time as even with reservation you wait.

Love watching the fish/turtles/sharks swim around the aquarium during diner. Food and service were good but not great.
Elspyth gave this a rating of 6 on 06/13/2016 at 10:25:02 pm EDT

The view was great! A large sea turtle was sitting on the bottom against the window right next to our table. The food however....I couldn't believe how small the portions were for the prices.

Good food, fine dining & great atmosphere. The kids enjoyed seeing the fish swim around.
jodistrock gave this a rating of 7 on 06/13/2016 at 8:31:41 pm EDT

You have to eat here at least once but that's enough in my opinion.
kiki0115 gave this a rating of 6 on 06/13/2016 at 7:36:15 pm EDT

Got a seat in front of the aquarium. Enjoyed watching the fish. Very special

Wonderful view from all tables of the fish and sharks. We've found that if you are celebrating a birthday or special occasion, you may want to request to be seated down close to the glass. We have always enjoyed our meals. One of the few placed to try Octopus as an appetizer. We do not order the Prix Fixe, but you may enjoy the option. If you have someone in your party that does not eat seafood, their Grilled New York Strip Steak is really good. The plates are always beautiful and they have some amazing and unique adult beverages. My favorite thing about Coral Reef are the desserts. If you love chocolate, then you must try The Chocolate Wave. My next favorite is Baileys and Jack Daniel's Mousse (although it does have alcohol, so not great for the kiddos). The Seafood Scampi is delicious, but I do not eat mussels, so if I am really hungry, I order something else. The lighting is dim in the seating area, which makes it easier to see the fish. For the kids, they have REALLY delicious Grilled Chicken Tenders. My daughter did not eat the rice, so ask your server to replace it (she loved either the fries or cheddar mashed potatoes). The kids can also get a nice Jr. Reef Steak which my daughter also enjoyed.

Despite the average rating this is one of the better family friendly seafood restaurants in Disney. The seafood is good-not great-but the families love the dinner rolls, aquarium views and kid friendly seafood selections. This restaurant also has issues with seating reservations on time. A solid choice.

Love to watch all the fish and sea turtles while dining here

We found the food to be alright but not great. The atmosphere is fun for the whole family.
