SeaWorld Orlando |
The Universal Orlando resort certainly offers plenty to do, see, and eat, and the same can easily be said of Walt Disney World, with its four major theme parks, two water parks, a major shopping and entertainment complex and numerous on-site hotels. Outside of these massive attractions, which could easily entertain visitors to Orlando on their own, are plenty of competitors.
The first we’ll look at is SeaWorld Orlando, which has been around for nearly as long as Walt Disney World.
Originally opened in 1973, this park now offers 200 acres of adventures into the marine world, with shows and close-up animal encounters, complemented by a relatively new range of thrill rides and coasters. World renowned as a zoological park, despite more recent negaitve publicity, this is the place to come to get close to such sea creatures as killer whales, dolphins, sea lions, stingrays, and penguins.
While its focus remains firmly on marine animals, over the years SeaWorld Orlando has evolved, recognizing they need to offer more to compete with the thrills of the other parks in the area. As a result, you'll now find an excellent selection of coasters, but these have a difference. They all retain links to a particular animal, such as mantas, and sharks, allowing everyone to get their fair share of thrills, but also giving them the opportunity to learn more about these beautiful creatures.
