It's going to be different, but 4 is a much easier number on rides than 5. on 11/20/2014 (comments: Love the podcast as you always want to make me plan a new trip every time I listen. Keep it up. TTFN.) Member mouseearmomma says: My husband and I are celebrating a belated 10 year anniversary (1 year & 4+ months late) by attending the D23 convention at WDW. This will be our 11th trip to WDW in 8 years but our first time without the kids! We are very excited to experience our favorite place from a new perspective. on 11/20/2014 (comments: If you were going on a kid free trip, where would be the #1 place you would want to eat together? We are definitely foodies and want to experience something special. ) Member mrsclmonts says: My husband, my son (age 8), and I are headed out on our 1st Disney Cruise (concierge) on the Disney Dream on November 21st! We are so excited!! That sentence really doesn't do our excitement level any justice.
We listened to Sarah's advice and are arriving in Orlando the day before. We have decided to surprise our son (who thinks we will be spending the evening at Downtown Disney) with tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party, as we head out of our lunch at T-Rex. He will lose his mind! LOL on 11/20/2014 (comments: Is there a specific "order" to a day at Castaway Cay? We secured a cabana but wasn't sure if there was a certain way to get the most our of our day on Disney's private island.) Member Brygida says:
Hi Jennifer and Sara! We are celebrating going to WDW for the D23 convention "attraction Rewind" for 5 days this weekend! My sister and I can't wait to hear all about our favorite extinct park attractions and Disney history from the Imagineers at the convention. I hope we hear a lot about Horizons, our favorite ride! Are either of you going? This trip will be fantastic as it is our first time ever staying at the Contemporary Resort! What a dream to finally stay at the resort the monorail went through on my first visit to WDW in 1973! We also got tickets to Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party the day before the convention. Another first! Having watched every Christmas parade on TV since forever, we can't wait to see one live.
As if that weren't enough to celebrate, after the convention my husband and son are coming down to WDW and we are staying through Thanksgiving! Making this our first holiday trip ever! We have never been before during fall or winter and can't wait to walk around in shorts and go swimming while it is cold back home in Connecticut. I know that Sara advises not to go that week, but I had to try. I have managed my expectations and have taken several steps to help we have a good trip. First I scheduled a dining reservation and FP+ for each day, that way we will at least be able to do those rides and have a great meal each day. I only did one park tickets for the family, no park hopping. Again, managing expectations. I picked what I hope will be the least attended park on Thanksgiving Day, the Animal Kingdom. But also, what better park to be thankful for our planet Earth than being in Animal Kingdom. We have Hoop Dee Doo Revue reservations for Thanksgiving Day dinner! How cool is that! On black Friday we will be in Epcot where I have reserved a Candlelight Processional dinner package. This will be our first time seeing the Osborne Family Dancing Lights, the Candlelight Processional, and the Epcot holiday storytellers. Even if all we get to ride is the FP+ rides, I know we will be happy as there is so much to soak in just being there during this holiday.
I can't believe it has taken me this long to organize a holiday trip since we go almost every year to WDW and Disneyland. Just to let your listeners know, I did, eventually, get FP+ for Anna and Elsa meet and greet, the 7D mine train, and the Frozen sing along. At the 30-60 day mark, I couldn't get any of these as they were all taken. However, I kept trying every few days and eventually got all FP+ I wanted. My best tip is to try booking FP+ right after midnight EST. That's when I got all my hard to get ones. Thanks for helping me celebrate! on 11/21/2014

Freya writes: "Hello again! I have a few questions for you regarding Annual Pass Vouchers... After paying my deposit for my WDW wedding, we have received two vouchers to redeem for annual passes... Exciting stuff!!! However, this has created a bit of a FastPass issue for our wedding trip in Late August 2015 - as we won't have been able to redeem our vouchers until we arrive in Florida; this will stop us booking FastPasses for our trip - correct? So I have two ideas, both of which may not work and your expertise would be much appreciated..! 1) Will booking a room on property for our wedding through our Room Block coordinator allow us access to FastPass reservations? As I am under the impression that this will allow me to book dining reservations (correct me if I'm wrong there!) 2) I have a friend visiting in May 2015, if I gave him the two vouchers to redeem at a park window, would this: A) be allowed, or do you need photo ID etc?! B) would it activate the annual passes from that date? - we would not want that to happen, as we are hoping to visit June 2016; C) would he need magic bands to do this? As I am hoping for him to take our magic bands from our September trip from this year and get us Star Wars band (I know I'm so terribly naughty!! Teehee!) If neither of these situations would work, could you please offer any solution to my conundrum? I understand that FastPasses aren't the be all and end all of a trip, but I would like 7DMT etc, as not to make this a 'rushing round' Disney trip. Thank you once again for your help - I consider myself the Disney expert of my family and friends, however this one has got me baffled! Angela Amick (MommyAngela3) writes: "Hello, ladies!!!!! In listening to your latest podcast, I had a few thoughts and some information I thought I’d share with you.
1. To the listener who wondered about keeping a FP+ reservation for the Frozen Sing-a-long show at Hollywood Studios, I’d say in HER case to keep the reservation for two reasons: She is with a rather large party, and she’s going during a busy week. But otherwise, I don’t think it’s necessary. I’ve seen the show three times since the summer (July, October, November), at various times of the day, and I never had a FP+ reservation. I actually think the seats are better for stand-by guests b/c the people with the FP+ reservations are too close to the front. I have been in the middle of the middle all three times, and was perfectly fine to get in the stand-by line 10-25 minutes prior to the show.
2. We all know that resort guests can make FP+ reservations 60 days prior to the first day of their stay, and that non-resort guests have 30 days. You mentioned in a listener question that “if a person got his/her tickets directly from Disney” that he/she could make FP+ reservations 30 days out. That is simply not true. It does not matter where a person gets his/her tickets. As long as the tickets are properly linked to his/her My Disney Experience app (or account, if using the computer), FP+ reservations can be made 30 days out from each day of stay. I’ve had plenty of friends (and even my family) get tickets through third party companies and have had no issues making FP+ reservations at midnight, 30 days out.
3. In giving advice to the listener who was in a conundrum about her Be Our Guest FP reservation interfering with her FP+ reservation to Enchanted Tales with Belle, you mentioned having “maybe a 5-minute grace period” at the end of a FP+ reservation, and even then, “that wasn’t reliable.” There actually are reliable and set times for grace periods, both before and after each 60-minute FP+ reservation time. Guests have exactly 5 minutes before the start of a FP+ reservation time and exactly 15 minutes after the end of each FP+ reservation time to be allowed on the ride. And since everything is electronic now, it’s not up to a cast member to decide. The Mickey either turns green or it doesn’t. Just thought you might find some of this helpful! I’ve been fortunate enough to have gone to Disney for three weeks this year (not all in a row, though!), and have learned some great things while down there.

Jennifer Marx is the author of dozens of PassPorter guidebooks, as well as webmistress of PassPorter.com. She is mom to 13-year-old Alexander, who has been to Disney World, Disneyland, and on the Disney Cruise so many times we've all lost count.
Sara Varney is the editor of PassPorter News and manager of the PassPorter's Club. She is also a travel planner for Mouse Fan Travel. Most importantly, she is Mom to her 13-year-old son Ryan, an experienced Disney traveler in his own right.
