As of December 17, 2015, Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld have installed metal detectors at the entrance to all of their theme parks. (Disneyland and Universal Studios in California are also installing the detectors.) At Walt Disney World, as of now, they are using "selective screening" which means that not all guests will be required to go through the detectors. Walt Disney World has also updated their policy on toy guns - no toy guns will be sold in the parks or resorts. Guests over the age of 14 will no longer be allowed to wear costumes in the parks, including to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. There is no official word on whether these changes are permanent.
