Please note that updates listed with page numbers above 350 are extra information that do not apply directly to pages in the book, as the book only has 350 pages.

7 On Saturday, October 1, 2011, fans will have the opportunity to meet members of the current Walt Disney World Moms Panel. The Second Annual "Walt Disney World Moms Panel Fan Meet" will be held from Noon to 2:30 pm at the Yacht Club and will include light hors d'oeuvres and a chance to chat with members of the Panel. 7Disney, along with many other companies who use the e-mail provider Epsilon, had their database of e-mail addresses hacked last week. Millions of guest names and e-mails were accessed. Epsilon, on behalf of Disney, sent e-mails to the guests who were affected warning them to be careful of suspicious spam or "phishing" e-mails. No financial or personal information was accessed, other than names and e-mail addresses.

21In the early morning hours of February 14, 2011 a collision between a Disney's Magical Express bus and a semi-tractor trailer shut down the northbound side of Boggy Creek Road, near Orlando International Airport. Five people including one of the drivers sustained injuries and were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

27Disney's Contemporary Resort will now feature health and wellness suites with bamboo flooring, 100% cotton sheets, non-allergenic wrapped mattresses, bathrooms with rainwater showers and tea tree oils, and in-room cardio equipment. The suites have views of the Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake. The suites include access to the Concierge Lounge and classes at the newly renovated wellness studio. Disney's Port Orleans will be adding 512 Royal Guest Rooms beginning in March 2012. The royally-appointed rooms feature ornate beds with fiber-optic-enhanced headboards and gold and crystal accents. The artwork and mementos in the rooms have been specially chosen by the Disney Princesses.

This is incorrect -- only the Deluxe and Quick Service Dining Plans include a refillable mug. The information about the dining plans is correct on page 219 ("Disney Dining Plan"), however, where we discuss the dining plans in depth. 322012 Walt Disney World room rates and packages are now available for booking. Changes to the 2012 Dining Plan include; one less snack credit per person for the Quick Service Dining Plan, and the addition of a resort refillable mug per person to the basic Disney Dining Plan (the mug was already a feature of the Quick Service and Deluxe Dining Plans).

42Disney Cruise Line has announced the itineraries for 2013 for both the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Reservations can now be made for both ships. The 2013 itineraries for the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder have not been announced.

59The Pepper Market at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is currently testing a buffet meal at breakfast and lunch, in place of the usual food court offerings. Dinner is a la carte. The price is $14.99 for breakfast, $8.99 ages 3 to 11, and $16.99 for lunch, $9.99 ages 3 to 11. Non-alcoholic drink and dessert included.

101The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel will host its first ever Stars and Stripes Celebration on July 2, 2011 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Fantasia Gardens Pavilion. The family-friendly event will feature live music, carnival games and games as well as a cookout. Tickets are $45 per adult and $25 per child (ages 3 - 9). There also will be a cash bar.

116Tom Skaggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, recently announced the development of new technology that will allow guests to reserve times to ride their favorite attractions as well as reserve seats at their favorite shows and spectaculars, prior to their arrival at the theme park. Guests will also have the ability to bypass resort check-in completely upon arrival and go directly to their room or to a theme park. No time frame has been announced for implementing the new processes.

118As of June 12, 2011, ticket prices for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland have increased across the board. At Walt Disney World, one-day, one-park tickets have increased $3 per adult and $5 per child (age 3-9). The Park Hopper and Water Park fun & More options have each increased by $1. At Disneyland, one-day, one-park tickets have increased $4 per adult and $6 per child (ages 3-9).

120 Walt Disney World monorail service to the evening Extra Magic Hours park (Magic Kingdom or Epcot) will no longer operate during the last two hours of evening Extra Magic Hours. Monorail service will end at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot one hour after each park's regularly scheduled close. This change has already taken place for Epcot and will begin at the Magic Kingdom on August 1, 2011. The extra time will be used to conduct maintenance on the monorail system and to allow the trains more down-time. Bus and/or boat service will be provided in lieu of the monorail.

120 A new peach-colored monorail will join the fleet at Walt Disney World this fall, upping the number of trains to 12. The new monorail replaces the train that was damaged in the accident that killed a monorail pilot in July 2009.

120The Magic Kingdom parking lot has been split into two sections to accommodate a second Tram stop. The parking lot is now divided into Heroes and Villains. Heroes sections include Woody, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Simba, Mulan and Rapunzel. The Villains half includes sections such as Zurg, Jafar, Hook, Scar, Cruella, and Ursula. There is one tram stop in each half.

129The Magic Kingdom is currently testing FASTPASSes for a special viewing area for the Celebrate A Dream Come True parade. No word on how these Fastpasses are being distributed but the rumored location of the viewing is the Castle Forecourt area.

130Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, a long-rumored interactive game to be played by guests at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, was officially announced on September 6. Scheduled to debut in early 2012, the game follows in the tradition of the Kim Possible Adventure at Epcot, and Mickey's Midship Detective Agency on the Disney Dream cruise ship. While many details have yet to be revealed, Disney promises an interactive role-playing experience featuring Merlin that will take guests on a quest around the park. The experience will be available to any park guest, at no additional charge.

130Beginning May 20, 2011, through July 2, 2011, girls can choose the 'Mermaid Transformation Package' at The Pirates League in the Magic Kingdom. The package includes make-up application including facial gem, a full-sized bottle of OPI Pirates of the Caribbean: Mermaid's Tears nail polish, a hair accessory and style, a special Pirates League Sheath and the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Mini Nail Lacquer Set. 133Beginning this spring (no official date yet), Walt Disney World guests will be able to get a FASTPASS for some face time with the Main Mouse himself. At Mickey's new meet and greet area, Town Square Theater, in the Exposition Hall on Main Street USA, guests will be able to utilize the FASTPASS system to get a ticket that allows them to return during a specified one-hour period and bypass the standby queue.

134Walt Disney World's newly renamed and refurbished Enchanted Tiki Room is set to open on Monday, August 15, 2011. "Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room" as it is now known, will pay tribute to the original Disneyland version.

137Visitors to Walt Disney World can check out a new, interactive queue at Haunted Mansion. While you can choose to bypass the interactive queue in favor of the "no fun" queue in the interest of speed, playing with the numerous interactive features and viewing the many delightful visual details might make the longer, slower line the more attractive choice. Like any attraction in preview, the interactive queue may not be available at all times. Disney expects to open the new queue on a full-time basis around the end of this month.

140A round-up of some of the Walt Disney Parks & Resorts announcements from the D23 Expo, held August 19 - 21, 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center:

There was not much in the way of "new" information, but the Carousel of Projects was very cool, offering the first look at the ride vehicles for the Cars Land attractions at Disneyland as well as the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Presentation featured the Enchanted Storybook Castle at Shanghai Disneyland, which will be the largest castle at any Disney theme park. The multi-level castle will house a walk-through attraction, boat ride, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and more. A new statue of Walt and Mickey will be featured on Buena Vista Street when it is unveiled at Disney California Adventure in 2012. The Carnation Plaza Gardens Stage is being reimagined to create Fantasy Faire - a Princess-focused village with meet and greet areas, as well as the evening entertainment that's a tradition at Carnation Plaza Gardens.

142On Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Walt Disney World, a light on an Astro Orbiter vehicle shorted-out causing a small fire and power outage. As a precaution, Tomorrowland was evacuated temporarily. The issue has been addressed and Astro Orbiter was open for business the next day.

145Guests at Epcot have recently begun testing a new turnstile-free entrance to the park. Guests scan their park admission at a bar code reader, then scan their finger and are waved into the park by a cast member. Up to four people at a time can use the system, allowing families to stay together. No word on when or if this system will become permanent.

154 Walt Disney World and General Motors have renewed the long-standing sponsorship of Epcot's Test Track. Test Track will close in April and reopen in Fall 2012 as "Test Track Presented by Chevrolet," with a brand-new look and a brand-new "Chevrolet Design Center," which will give guests the opportunity to design custom concept cars.

167The previously announced opening of the Phineas and Ferb character "play 'n' greet" experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios has been delayed from its originally-announced mid-May opening, for "a few more weeks." The explanation offered by the Disney Blog? The boys have to wait until the start of school vacation. Also at Studios, the new Winnie the Pooh character meet at The Magic of Disney Animation has also been pushed back. No reason was given for the delay, but we suspect he's out hunting for hunny.

201Splitsville, a national chain featuring "bowling... billiards, dining, music, and nightlife," will open a new location at Downtown Disney West Side, in the space formerly occupied by the Virgin Megastore. RIDEMAKERZ, which is currently in that spot, will move to Downtown Disney Marketplace. Construction on the 50,000 sq. ft. facility will begin in fall 2011.

201The renovated LEGO Imagination Center has re-opened at Walt Disney World's Downtown Disney. In addition to the original LEGO sculptures of a family walking their dogs and Brickley the Sea Serpent in the Lake, new characters and scenes from Sleeping Beauty, Toy Story, Snow White and Bambi can be found. The outdoor playground has been removed but play tables stocked with LEGOs can now be found indoors.

201Beginning May 16, 2011, the six theatres at the 24-screen AMC Downtown Disney Multiplex will offer Fork & Screen service. This experience includes reserved seating and seat-side service. 210 Walt Disney World is handing operation of its five golf courses at Walt Disney World to Arnold Palmer Golf Management, as of September 25. As part of the agreement, Arnold Palmer will lead the redesign of Disney's Palm course, which will be designated an Arnold Palmer designed course. The long-term goals include an improved profile for golf at Walt Disney World, and marketing of Disney golf vacations to members of "Palmer Advantage," which features reciprocal golfing privileges at over 250 golf courses and resorts worldwide. 212Runners can now register for all events of the 2012 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, being held January 5-8, 2012. A new event -- the Walt Disney World Marathon Relay -- is being added to the line-up. This event teams two runners, who each run a half-marathon. The first runner begins the race at the starting line and runs to the mid-way point at the Magic Kingdom. The second runner takes over there and runs to the finish line back at Epcot. When you make the reservation by calling (407) WDW-DINE, you can choose your show time and your meal. Pick up the meal on the selected day between 11:00 and 90 minutes before your showtime. 287On April 8, the Walt Disney Company and Shanghai Shendi Group (a Chinese government-owned consortium) broke ground for the Shanghai Disney Resort. The new resort, which will initially cover 963 acres, is due to open in about five years. Initial investment by Disney and Shanghai Shendi will be $4.4 billion dollars, with Disney holding 43% ownership and Shanghai Shendi holding 57%. Each will contribute to the project in proportion to their ownership stake. While Shanghai Shendi will hold the majority financial stake, management of the park will be under Disney's control, with the Walt Disney Company holding 70% ownership of the joint venture management company. Breaking with tradition, this Magic Kingdom-style park will have an 11-acre green space at its entrance, rather than Main Street, to emphasize nature and sustainability.
